Tigers Jaw – Guardian

Emo/Pop Punkers, Tigers Jaw, are back at it again with a new song from their upcoming LP. If you don’t know who Tigers Jaw is, they have been around for awhile now and they have put out numerous albums and splits. Tigers Jaw somehow find the balance of fun pop punk music and depressing emo music in their songs. This new track is no exception. Guardian is what you would expect coming from Tigers Jaw, but this isn’t a negative. The song draws you in and keeps you invested. Lyrically, Tigers Jaw is at their best. “Burn a candle to my skin / Turn the handle, let me in / I cannot be your medicine anymore.” This Track should make every Tigers Jaw fan excited for the new LP.

Brand New – “I Am A Nightmare”

brand-new-i-am-a-nightmare 9.7/10

Brand New did it again. The members of the iconic New York band have formed a masterpiece. “I Am A Nightmare” brings back the fun energy of Your Favorite Weapon and Deja Entendu while keeping the mature lyrics found in The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me and Daisy. The song doesn’t waste any time. It quickly jumps straight into a memorable riff and Jesse Lacey’s amazing voice singing the verse. The chorus is extremely catchy and the listener will feel inclined to sing along. The words “I am a nightmare and you are a miracle” will be stuck in the listeners head all day. This track is almost polar opposites of the song “Mene” released in April last year, but is definitely Brand New. Everything that makes Brand New them is apparent on this track. Well written guitar riffs, energetic drumming, and most of all amazing lyrics are all here. If this is what the new album will sound like then all Brand New fans should be extremely excited.

Highly Suspect is a fairly new band. They caught everyones attention in 2015 with the release of Mister Asylum. Highly Suspect pays respect to blues and classic rock but add their own hard rock feel to the music. “Serotonia” just builds upon this reputation and stands as one of the best singles out so far this year.
